Turning Pages Of History: Setting Up A Jewellery Business

My Mom was probably the only woman in our lavish neighborhood who was known for her attractive appearance as well as exquisite collection of jewellery. Often, I had witnessed women envying her elegance and sophistication. Much of the decency that she carried herself with was a result of fashion and imitation jewellery pieces she bought from imitaion jewellery manufacturers from faraway places. The story that I’m going to unfold has my Mom as the main character. 

At a time when the term ‘fashion’ wasn’t embraced by many, my mother set new fashion trends. If I tell you that she actually earned a living out of offering wholesale fashion jewellery accessories, you shouldn’t be surprised. Back then, when every woman secretly wished to adorn herself with beautiful pieces of ornaments, but was not affluent enough to get their hands on the sparkling white diamonds known as a woman’s best friend, there was a bold lady who took an initiative to fulfil the dreams of every woman in the city. Yes, you guessed it right. She was none other than my mother. It didn’t take a lot of time for her to realize that jewellery is more like a passion to her. Supported by her open-minded spouse, this woman gave wings to her dreams. Of course, taking the first step towards your dreams is never a cakewalk. Once you have chosen a product line that appeals to your audience, the next big thing is to connect with artificial jewellery manufacturers who understand your business requirements. Locating a reliable jewellery wholesaler is again a challenging task as the market has plenty of them, already. However, by conducting a preliminary survey before commencing your business, this task becomes easier. 

In those times, when internet was flourishing but the minds who were supposed to handle it were not flowing freely, they were sealed like a cap of an empty bottle. In presence of technology, my mother had to travel to many places to connect with jewellery wholesalers and retailers that delivered quality at the best prices. With her zeal and motivation, she finally formed association with a handful of wholesalers who were popular amongst the masses for all the good reasons. However, due to lack of resources and knowledge, initially her business couldn’t afford to showcase a huge and varying jewellery assortment. 

As her business grew, the sales boosted up which enabled her to bring a blend of modern and traditional wholesale fashion jewelry accessories for a wide array of customers. Possessing the much needed information about the jewellery trends, customs and tastes of people, my mother kept a ready to go stock of jewellery that reflected the feminine aspect of a woman. With time, her jewellery designs allured many hearts.


I have no clear idea what would I be doing right now if the woman who gave me birth had not mustered the courage of following her heart. Looking back, I realise now that how fortunate I have been to be nurtured by such gentle hands. Today, I and my mother jointly run the same business outlet online. It has turned out to be our family business. Jewellery is a billion dollar market and this is one of the best parts about it. You rarely run out of business.
