I embarked on my wholesale journey at an early age. They say that the best lessons are learnt from failures and disappointments. I cannot agree more. During my childhood, more than often not my father took me to wholesale markets on weekends. There I used to witness a large number of people engaged in making a profitable deal. It took me more than a little time to understand the difference between wholesale and retail. In the former, the dealer acquires goods in bulk quantities and sells them out at lower prices whereas, in the latter, no real profit is made unless the customers are satisfied. Fascinated by the thought of owning my business, I started analyzing the market trends and buyer behaviour for a couple of months. It is true that every business exists for a particular audience and their needs. Here the toughest decision for me was to pick a product line that ensured profits and growth in the long term. When you are in a deep ocean of confusion, everything seems to fall apart, your dreams, aspirations and hopes.
However, I was determined to establish a company that creates value in the common lives. Reading articles, exploring places and meeting the industry giants, the puzzle began to fix. Grown-up seeing my mother and grandmother adorning themselves with traditional jewellery, I knew that there is a constant demand for trendy, stylish and designer jewellery. However, with a limited budget, I focussed on creating a niche for fashion and imitation jewellery. To my surprise, I discovered that this type of jewellery has a plethora of market segments. Once I zeroed in on the product line, the next thing was to get familiar with the needs and requirements of my target audience. It is not necessary that a business fulfils the demands of all customers. Therefore, you have to choose the audience you intend to serve considering their tastes and preferences. This is easier said than done.
If the customers have diverse needs, then it's better to switch to more rewarding buyers. Initially, I decided to stick to two or more boutique collection jewelry wholesale items. It was not a cakewalk to decide the items of the first slot. However, connecting with experienced and skilful imitation jewellery wholesalers opened up many opportunities. I directly procured the jewellery items from the manufacturers at lesser market prices. Along my journey, I have built a large network of wholesalers and retailers. 7 years down but I learn a new business lesson every day. It is this networking that pushes my business sales and profits. Have plans to go wholesale? Then keep these simple tips in mind. It’s absolutely okay to not possess the relevant knowledge and expertise. Some lessons are better learnt from pitfalls and wrong decisions. So, keep going! Wish you a great stroke of luck. In case of any query or assistance, feel free to connect with our imitation jewellery wholesalers.
